How to Prepare your Home for the Holidays
Winter renovations are great if your goals are for your home to be ready for Summer. Winter renovations can also be hard because remodeling is happening during the holidays. As we are quickly heading into the holidays, I wanted to share my best tips on how to prepare your home for the holidays. Remodeling during the holidays doesn’t have to be stressful. If you prepare accordingly and communicate openly with your contractor about your needs/wants, it can be stress free.
Plan Ahead
One of the best ways to prepare your home for the holidays is to figure out exactly what your holiday schedule will be. This will help you have a great conversation with your contractor about when you need supplies moved by and workspaces cleaned up.
Communicate Holiday Plans with your Contractor
Designate a place where all stock and tools can be stored and covered during the holidays. Think about where the most optimal place would be to give you the most space to entertain. You should also think about the safest space away from children and pets. Arrange with your contractor the best time to move all the stock and tools will be for you.
Get Organized
Now that everything is moved out of the way, it’s a great time to organize the spaces in your home you might not have been using for a few months due to remodeling. If possible, decorate the spaces to your liking and maybe even bring furniture back into the rooms so you can create a comfy holiday space.
Be Flexible
Even after doing all of this, you will need to keep in mind that your space will not be completely remodeled for the holidays. You must be open to your house not looking exactly how you might want it to look during the holidays.
It’s important to remember that remodeling doesn’t last forever. Next time the holidays come around, you’ll be living in your dream remodeled space. I hope you find these tips helpful as you prepare for the holidays during your renovations.
